Chesaning school bond election Tuesday May 6

Chesaning Union Schools have placed two bond proposals on the May 6 ballot. Election polls will open at 7 a.m. on May 6, and remain open until 8 p.m. that night.

Chesaning Township Clerk Fran Kukulis is the election administrator for this school election. While most voters will be able to cast ballots at their usual polling places, special accommodations have been made for Chesaning Union School District voters who live in two areas. Marion Township voters, living in the school district will vote at the Chapin Township Hall, 21481 W. Peet Rd, Elsie. Voters residing in Hazelton, New Haven and Rush townships in Shiawassee County will cast their ballots at the Chesaning Township Hall, 1025W. Brady St. in Chesaning.

Registered voters living within the Chesaning Union School District in the following townships will vote at their usual election precincts: Albee, Brady, Brant, Chapin, Chesaning, Maple Grove, and St. Charles Township.

These voting precincts are as follows:

Albee Township, Precinct 1 - Albee

Chapin Township, Precinct 1 - Chapin Township Hall, 21481 W. Peet Rd., Elsie

Chesaning Township, Precinct 1* - Chesaning-Brady Fire Department, 1632 W. Brady Rd. (M-57), Chesaning

Chesaning Township, Precinct 2 - Chesaning Township Hall, 1025 W. Brady St., Chesaning

Maple Grove Township, Precinct 1 - Maple Grove Township Hall, 4017 Peet Rd., Chesaning

St. Charles Township, Precinct 1 – St. Charles Township Hall, 1003 N. Saginaw St., St. Charles

*It should be noted that this is the first election where voters living within the Village of Chesaning will cast ballots at the Chesaning-Brady Fire Department. It is the new location for Precinct 1 in Chesaning Township. that the ballot language does not contain this stipulation.

While both ballot questions are longer than most, voters should take the time to read through before casting their votes.
