Tribe cages fall to Birch Run in district opener

BRIDGEPORT – The basketball season came to an end last Monday for Chesaning as the Indians lost to Birch Run, 46-41, in a district opener played at Bridgeport.

JT Gross scored 16 points to lead the Tribe in scoring, but CHS could not overcome the six-point deficit it faced after the opening eight minutes of play.

Down 14-8, the Indians pulled to within 21-17 at intermission and played the Panthers to a virtual stand-off in the second half.

Caleb Kimball canned 10 points for CHS. Cameron Drope added six markers and Harrison Ervin pulled down nine rebounds to go with three points. Carl Bates finished with four markers.
