ST. CHARLES – St. Charles Township reappointed members to the planning commission; voted to seek bids for lawn and cemetery maintenance and plowing; and also carried a motion to appoint Jay Gardner to the St. Charles Township Board of Review, during its last regular meeting on Monday, March 3.

Reappointed members for the St. Charles Township Planning Commission were: Gerald Kovach, Jack Rusher and Bonnie Hemgesberg. The three-year terms will expire in March of 2017.

During the meeting the board also approved last month’s meeting minutes and the extension of a Samsung printer warranty at a cost of $99 for one year. Township officials also approved to offer a free, one-time, one per household recycling bin to township residents in order to help promote recycling. The bins may be picked up at the office during regular business hours – Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. until noon and 1 – 5 p.m.; and Thursdays from 8 a.m. until noon.

The board agreed to accept bids for lawn care and snow plowing for both the St. Charles Township office and Riverside Cemetery. The 2014-15 snow removal includes plowing at the hall and cemetery; shoveling the sidewalk at the township hall; and salting the township hall parking lot and sidewalk when needed. Those interested in placing a bid may call the St. Charles Township office at 865-9010 for more information.

The township is also seeking bids for cemetery grounds maintenance including lawn care at the township and cemetery. Those who are interested in submitting a bid may visit the township office to pick up a job description.

According to township officials, both of the bids (lawn care and snow plowing; and cemetery grounds maintenance and lawn care) should be three-year contracts to be turned into the township office by March 31. The office is located at 1003 N. Saginaw Street, St. Charles.
