Looking for something fun to do over Christmas break? Come to Makerspace Monday: Robots 101 at the library! Inventors of all ages are welcome to come learn how to build and race robots on Monday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at the library.

The Book Discussion Group is reading Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan for our January book. We will be meeting Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. Stop in and pick up a copy to enjoy. Bring a friend; there will be yummy refreshments and much fun!

Did you get or give an eReader for Christmas? Come learn how to download free library eBooks onto your eReader, tablet or phone. We will have several classes right after the holidays so you can start reading right away: Thursday, Jan. 2 at 10:30 a.m. or Monday, Jan. 6 at 2 p.m.

The library will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

The Library will be closed for New Year’s on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, Jan. 2.

The St. Charles District Library Board will meet on Sunday, Jan.y 5, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The Book Discussion group will meet on Monday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 6 p.m.

Food Network Cake Challenge star Michelle Bommarito will put her spin on Mexican Cuisine during a program at the New Lothrop Branch of the Community District Library on Monday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 p.m. She will share information on making pineapple salsa, cilantro lime yogurt sauce, flat iron steak quesadillas and caramelized black beans. Space is limited, so pre-register by calling (810) 638-7575. The branch is inside the New Lothrop Elementary School, located at 9387 Genesee St.

The Community District Library branches are offering a Winter Reading Program for their adult patrons. Card holders can kickoff their 2014 reading by joining the program which begins Jan. 6 and runs through Feb. 8th. The rules are as follows:

• Patrons 18 and older will receive a punch card when they signup.

• For every book, audio book or DVD checked out they will receive one punch.

• Collect three or more punches per week and the card will be entered into a weekly prize drawing.

• One prize will be awarded per week at each of our branches.

• All completed and signed punch cards will go into a grand prize drawing of a gift card for dinner. One winner will be awarded per branch at the end of the program.

Taymouth Township Library would like to announce the winners of the sled drawing. Our first prize winner was Caden Lambert. Second prize went to Genie Scott, and Morgan Stevens took home third prize. Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets. All proceeds will go toward our reading programs.

The Adult Reading Program will begin the week of Jan. 6. This year’s theme is “Read, It’s Good For You.” All adults are welcome to participate in this 10 week program. There will be weekly prizes, prizes for each category read and a grand prize. Please sign up and enjoy the fun!

Our hours are Monday and Thursday 2 to 9 p.m., Tuesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday closed, and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
