CHESANING CHAMBER RAFFLE WINNER – The winner of the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce biweekly raffle for Wednesday, Sept. 25, was Vicktoria Conklin, of Harbor Springs. Guest drawer was Brett Russell of the Chesaning DDA.

SIGN ON – During the Sept. 24 meeting of the Montrose Community Schools Board of Education, the board approved the purchase of new exterior signs. The signs will be purchased through Voorheis Signs, Montrose, at a cost of $8,383.75. This expenditure will be paid for through the bond issue. The school district obtained a five percent discount for making full payment when placing the order.

MATH TEACHER HIRED – Montrose Community Schools has hired Carrie Kovach as a full-time Title 1 math interventionist at Carter Elementary School. Kovach has been a frequent substitute teacher for the district, and completed her certification.

ON THE ROAD – The Montrose Community Schools Board of Education has approved soccer coach Jason Perrin’s request for the girls soccer team to go on an out-of-state trip to Gulf Shores, Ala. during spring break 2014.

IN SYNC – A new computer synchronized clock system will be installed at Montrose Community Schools as part of the bond issue capital improvements. The clock update was approved during the Sept. 24 meeting of the Montrose Community Schools Board of Education. Superintendent Dr. Edward Graham explained that since the district shares staff between buildings, it’s important to have all of the clocks on the same time. The cost of the new computerized clock system is $3,164, and will be purchased through the National Time & Signal Company. It will synchonize all of the clocks in the district to the computer.

RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT – During their Sept. 24 meeting, the Montrose Community Schools Board of Education adopted a resolution to support the Mott Community College renewal request, which will be on the fall ballot.
