Makerspace Monday: Lightsabers – Want to learn to create build your own lightsaber? Patrons of all ages are welcome to stop by the library on Monday, Aug. 19 from 2–4 p.m. to learn to build a lightsaber.

For the month of August, the library is going to be hosting Makerspace Mondays. What is a Makerspace? “A makerspace is a location where people with common interests, often in computers, technology, science, or digital or electronic art (but also in many other realms) can meet, socialize and/or collaborate.” Aug. 19 we will be building Lightsabers, and Aug. 26 will be Papercrafts. Our makerspace will be open from 2–4 p.m. and is for patrons of all ages and skill levels.

The Chesaning Area Friends of the Library will be meeting Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. to finalize plans for their annual wine tasting event!

The Book Discussion Group is reading In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O’Brien for our August book. We will be meeting this Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. Stop in and pick up a copy to enjoy. Bring a friend; there will be yummy refreshments!

Are you looking for something fun to do this summer? The Michigan Activity Pass allows you to check out free passes to museums and cultural activities in Michigan. Go to www.riverrapidslibrary.org and click on the hot air balloon on the left side.

The St. Charles District Library Board will meet on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The Knitting Group will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m. to knit and share project ideas.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m.

The book discussion group will meet on Monday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand. If you would like to participate in the book discussion group, call the circulation desk to request a copy of the book.

We will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day.?
