Clio dedicates piece of World Trade Center

BY MANDILEE LOOMIS STAFF REPORTER

CLIO – Clio will help celebrate Flag Day by dedicating a piece of American history on Friday, June 14.

The Clio Area Fire Department has received a piece of steel from the World Trade Center and will dedicate it at Clio Veterans Park in downtown Clio (corner of Railroad and Vienna streets) at 5 p.m.

Clio Area Fire Department Chief Gary Domerese stated the steel fragment is approximately two to three feet long and mounted on a block of granite that contains memorial information regarding the police officers and fire fighters who died during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

The World Trade Center steel dedication will take place prior to a Flag Day Ceremony in Veteran’s Park, Domerese said. That ceremony will include the Changing of the Flags and the teaching of flag etiquette to local Boy Scouts.
