CHARLES LIONS CLUB will meet on Thursday, April 5 at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles United Methodist Church, 301 W. Belle St., St. Charles. • ST. CHARLES HISTORICAL SOCIETY members will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at the St. Charles Historical Museum, 603 Chesaning St. Regular hours at the museum are Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m.; Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. • The TRI-CITY WOOD CARVERS meet at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the Saginaw Township Fire Station Number Three on Shattuck Road. Carving topics are discussed of interest to carvers of all skill levels. • GLEANER’S TRI COUNTY ARBOR #768 of Montrose will meet on Thursday, April 5 at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Railroad Depot. FUNDRAISERS

• An AUCTION FUNDRAISER to benefit the River Rapids Pedestrian Bridge will be held on Saturday, April 14. Donations of new, gently used, or “antique” auction items are needed and appreciated. Call the Chesaning Village Office at (989) 845-3800 for more information. • The RESPITE VOLUNTEERS OF SHIAWASSEE PURSE BINGO PARTY is scheduled for Thursday April 19 at GiGi’s Banquet Center located at 3144 East M-21, east of State Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m. Bingo prizes are purses with a retail value of at least $40. Advance Tickets are $15 ($20 day of the event) which includes 20 bingo cards to play 20 games. Extra cards may be purchased to increase the chances to win a favorite purse. Light refreshments and door prizes will add to the fun ladies’ night out. Tickets are on sale now and available at the Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee office, 710 W. King St., Owosso, near the King Street entrance of Memorial Healthcare. Tickets may also be obtained from Respite Volunteer Board Members and Respite Volunteers. Special supporters of this event are Oliver Woods Retirement Village, GiGi’s Catering and Banquets, Smith Family Funeral Homes. The cost is $20 for a four to six person team. Registration is open to all. Registration forms are available at www.chesaningschools.net/band and must be postmarked by Tuesday April 10. Spectators are also welcome with a $3 admission fee. Concessions will be available the day of the event. Proceeds will be used to purchase new marching uniforms. FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP

• The Chesaning Knights of Columbus will hold an EASTER BAKE SALE on Good Friday, April 6, during the fish fry from 4 to 8 p.m. at the KC Hall, 9171 Deitering Road, Chesaning. Fish fries have also been extended to include April 13 and 20, take-out only, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. • The Montrose Eagles Club #4090 Auxiliary will be serving a COUNTRY BREAKFAST BUFFET on Sunday, April 8, from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 6-12, and free for children ages 5 and under. The menu for the all-you-can-eat full breakfast buffet includes sausage gravy and biscuits, sausage patties/ links, bacon, corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, hash browns, made to order eggs, pancakes, french toast, strawberry and biscuits with Cool Whip, coffee, tea, milk and orange juice. Buffet is open to the public, and take-outs are welcome. For more information, call (810) 639-5886. • The CHESANING AMERICAN LEGION POST 212 BREAKFAST will be held on Sunday, April 1, from 7:30 a.m. until noon at the Post, 15052 McKeighan Road. The menu includes bacon, sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits, French toast, pancakes, hash browns, eggs to order, orange juice, milk and coffee. The price is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 through 12, and free for children ages 5 and under. The Legion is asking those attending to bring an item for the CAER Center pantry to help replenish it for those in need. There will also be a bake sale during the breakfast to help support the Legion Auxiliary activities.

• HUNTINGTON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP meets on Thursday, April 5 from 7 - 9 p.m. at the Saginaw Township Hall. Call (989) 835-9933 for information. • The SHIAWASSEE COUNTY MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SELF-HELP GROUP will meet on Tuesday, April 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the St. Johns United Church of Christ, 429 N. Washington St. in Owosso. For more information, call Brenda Johnson at (989) 288- 5241. • NAR-ANON MEETINGS for relatives and friends of drug addicts are held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, Saginaw, on Sundays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

CHURCHES

• There will be a FREE GOSPEL CONCERT on Saturday, April 7, from 4 to 9 p.m. at New Wine Church, 734 Brady Road, Chesaning. Featured performers will include The Gospel Trax, Melissa Hetzer, Travis Thurlow, brother and sister duo Steve Mann and Em McKnight, The Pilgrim Band, and Las Estrellas de Cristo. Suggested donations for dinner plates are $5 for adults, $2.50 for children. This is a fundraiser for the building. • ST. CHARLES SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST COMMUNITY CENTER is open the first and third Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The center is located at the corner of Clinton and Marcy Streets in St. Charles, and serves those who are in need of gently used clothing, household items and furniture (when available). The center also accept donations of gently used clothing, household items and furniture. Interested persons should stop by if they need assistance or have any questions.

ODDS & ENDS

• The MICHIGAN ANTIQUE RADIO CLUB will be sponsoring a show and sale on Saturday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Valley Plaza Resort, 5221 Bay City Road, Midland, just east of the US-10 interchange. This is a road show for collectible radios where MARC members offer free appraisals as well as sources for the repair and restoration of vintage radios. Attendees will have the opportunity to view and purchase antique radio sets, and radio-related items of all types, including repair parts. The public is invited and membership information will be available. General admission is $5 for adults, with children ages 14 and under admitted free. • SAGINAW COUNTY CAC will be having quarterly food distribution on Monday, April 2 in the Chesaning and St. Charles areas. The date on the flyer was wrong. Times will be the same as usual.

SCHOOLS

• The Montrose TUITION-BASED PRESCHOOL PROGRAM is now enrolling 3, 4 and 5 year old students for the 2012-13 school year. This program focuses on getting children ready for kindergarten. The program is Monday through Thursday for a half-day, and is taught by a certified teacher. It is open to Montrose district and surrounding area residents. SHARI’S PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE on Friday, April 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. or 5 to 6 p.m. She offers programs for 3 and 4 year olds. For more information, call Ms. Shari at (989) 845-2387. • New Lothrop KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION will be held in the Elementary School library on Monday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Children who will be 5 years of age before Dec. 1 should be registered at that time. It will be necessary for parents to pre-register their children and to pick up the registration packet in the elementary school office prior to registration. BAZAARS AND CRAFT SHOWS

• The Young At Heart Club is holding a SILENT AUCTION now through May 18. The public is invited to stop in and bid on items, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. New or gently used items are also needed for the auction, and can be dropped off at the senior center, 218 Church St., Chesaning. Bidding will end on Friday, May 18 at noon. For more information, call the center at (989) 845-6565.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

• A RESPITE VOLUNTEER TRAINING is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Catholic Church, 111 N. Howell St. in Owosso. A light meal will be provided at the training. The training is designed to prepare volunteers to serve adults with ongoing health needs, and their caregiving families, and especially persons who are frail, elderly, and living alone. There is no cost to attend the training. Respite Volunteers serves Shiawassee County, and additional volunteers are needed throughout the county, including the northern Shiawassee area, Ovid, Elsie, Henderson, Owosso, Corunna, New Lothrop, Laingsburg, Perry, Morrice, Bancroft, Byron, Durand, Vernon, and Lennon communities, in order to serve all the persons and caregiving families requesting help. SENIORS

• The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS meet the first Monday of each month for a potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall. All senior citizens are welcome. For more information, call 643-2201 or 643- 5635.
