Area churches provide monthly free dinners

Letters to the editor

To the Editor of the Citizen,

Whether you know it or not there is a great thing happening with churches in and around Chesaning. A little over a year ago New Wine Church started hosting a free dinner once per month. Recently Trinity United Methodist Church started their own once per month free dinner. I have also heard that Brant United Methodist Church has started a similar event. These churches are doing this, sacrificing their time, effort and finances simply because Jesus told them too.

Times are hard for people right now. Who couldn’t use a good meal once in a while? Everyone gets tired of eating their own cooking. When money gets tight, it is easy to cut out the more expensive freshly made good for cheaper prepared food. All of these churches make a point to serve food that is fresh and good. You never know who you might run into. Just in case you were wondering: No Preaching, just happy, friendly people to share a meal with.

The only thing you need to bring is you. If you have a favorite desert that you would like to share, feel free to bring it. The desert tables are consistently extravagent. Come join us on the second Saturday of the month at Trinity and the third Saturday of each month at New Wine.

P.S. That leaves lots of other days each month for other churches who would like to join in.
