Montrose celebrates a Homecoming of 'Opposites'

(TCC Photo by Keith Salisbury) MONTROSE – It's Homecoming time at Hill-McCloy High School this week, Oct. 4-8, and this year's theme is “Opposites.”

Classes will be competing in dress up days throughout the week. Monday is Nerds or Jocks. Tuesday is dress as the opposite sex. Wednesday is Superhero or Villain. Thursday is Michigan State or University of Michigan day. Friday is dress as a Ram fan and wear red or black.

The Powderpuff game will be played on Thursday at 6 p.m. Admission is $2.

On Friday there will be a pep assembly, where the Homecoming king will be crowned. Then at 6 p.m., the Homecoming parade steps off, followed by the football game at 7 p.m. when the Beecher Bucs come to town.

This year's queen candidates are Ciera Casteel, Kassandra Littlejohn, Jayne McDonald, Brianna Peczynski, Nichole Read and Kayla Setzke.

Ciera Casteel is the daughter of Heidi Casteel and Scott Janiski. She has been involved in the National Honor Society, Student Council, track and SADD.

Kassandra Littlejohn is the daughter of Ellen Kirk and Pamela and Mike Littlejohn. She has been involved in varsity volleyball, basketball, yearbook and SADD.

Jayne McDonald is the granddaughter of Dan and Deb Harger, and the daughter of Angela Middleton, Todd Shelbrock and Jeff McDonald. She has been involved in SADD.

Nichole Read is the daughter of Vicki and Bill Read. She is in her second year of working as a teacher's aide at Carter Elementary.

Kayla Setzke is the daughter of Carla and Jeff Setzke. She has been involved in varsity basketball, varsity soccer, Student Council, National Honor Society and cross country.

This year's king candidates are Alex Demock, Brett Diem, Dylan Huber, Kyle Jacobs, Corey Oleyar and Cody Williams.

Alex Demock is the son of Karen and Robert Demock. He has been involved in football, basketball and baseball.

Brett Diem is the son of John and Rana Diem. He has been involved in football and basketball.

Dylan Huber is the son of Lisa Marshall and Ron Huber. He has been involved in varsity football and varsity baseball.

Kyle Jacobs is the son of Matt and Tina Jacobs. He has been involved in football, and he plays the guitar.

Corey Oleyar is the son of Mike and Cindy Oleyar. He has been involved in basketball, golf and the National Honor Society.

Cody Williams is the son of Heather Crawford and Darin Williams. He has been involved in football, track and

basketball. This year's freshman class representatives are Cheyenne Csercse, the daughter of Danise and Greg Csercse, and Tyler Doyle, the son of Leann and Art Doyle.

The sophomore class is represented by Morgan Durham, the daughter of Terri Durham, and Caleb Reinhart, the son of Dennis and Sandy Reinhart.

The junior class representatives are Kaylee Cook, daughter of Michelle Cook and Jeff Carey, and Bryan Fikes, the son of Gail and Morrie Fikes.
