Family Tavern hosts Family Fun Day

OAKLEY – Have a Wii™ bit of fun during Family Fun Day at the Family Tavern in Oakley, noon - 11 p.m., Aug. 14, 2010. Family Fun Day features Wii™ bowling tournaments for children and adults, a Wii™ home run competition, as well as nonvideo games such as water pong and a horseshoe tournament. Prizes will be awarded in each category. Events will run throughout the day.

According to event planner Kelly Swartzmiller, children’s matches are FREE with toys and medals awarded as prizes. Adult competitions will have modest fees to play with cash prizes for the winners; with 50 percent payback on these events. They have five horseshoe pits for both singles and partner competitions.

In the evening, the game is a Twilight Bowling Championship on a giant 6’ x 8’ projection screen. D.J. Dynamic Dave will crank up the tunes in the evening, to provide a musical backdrop for fun.

Family Fun Day is an event designed to support the Oakley Bike Run, which will be held the second weekend in September. The proceeds from this full day of Family Fun events will help pay for the t-shirts as well as promote the sponsors who make the Oakley Bike Run possible.

Nearly $5,000 was donated back to the community from last year’s bike run, Swartzmiller stated. “The idea is to make more so we can give more away and help more people,” she stated.

All proceeds raised from games played during Family Fun Day support the Oakley Bike Run Association, which donates its proceeds to charitable efforts in Oakley and the surrounding community.
