SOCCER PHOTOS READY FOR PICKUP – Chesaning Parks and Recreation spring soccer photos are back and can be picked up at Animal Health Care in Chesaning, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those who have not picked up their baseball pictures can picked them up at Animal Health Care as well.

BIG A MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND GOLF CLASSIC – Friends and family are sponsoring the 2nd Annual “BIG A” Memorial Scholarship Fund Golf Classic on Saturday, June 26 at Highland Hills Golf Course, 1050 E. Alward Road, DeWitt. The classic is in memory of Jason E. Anderson, formerly of Laingsburg, Alpena and Owosso, who died at age 32 of hypertensive cardiovascular disease. The scholarship fund was established to allow his legacy of coaching/helping youth continue. The event starts at 8:30 a.m. registration and free driving range, followed by a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $45, which includes 18 holes, cart, hot dogs and chips and bottled water on the course, six tickets to each golfer to be used for beer, pop or iced tea, and a dinner with prizes and raffle drawing at Twilligers, 116 E. Grand River Road, Laingsburg, after the outing. Registrations are requested by June 17. RAMS BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP OFFERED – The Montrose Ram boys basketball camp will be offered Monday, June 14 through Thursday, June 17. Next year’s grades two, three and four will be from 8 to 10 a.m. at Kuehn- Haven Middle School; grades five and six will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hill-McCloy High School, and grades seven, eight, nine and ten will be from 12:45 to 2:45 p.m. at the high school. The camp will provide instruction on ball handling, shooting, passing, rebounding, screening, offensive and defensive skills and team concepts, with daily contests. Prizes will be awarded. CHESANING SUMMER TENNIS OFFERED – The Chesaning summer tennis program will run June 15 through July 8 at the Chesaning High School tennis courts. Pee Wee (kindergarten) will be form 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, providing an introduction to tennis. The cost is $36. Munchkins (grades one and two) will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m., providing an introduction to basic strokes. The cost is $72. Strokers (grades three and four) will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, providing work on footwork and improved strokes. The cost is $72. Future Stars (grades five and six) will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, providing improvement of strokes, with some new. The cost is $72. Middle School/High School Training will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 3:30 p.m., designed for juniors with prior instruction or beginning high school players. The cost is $72. Competitive (high school) will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for varsity hopefuls, with some match play required. The cost is $72. New Adult Players will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., designed for new adult players or those who have not played in some time. The cost is $48. Checks should be made payable to: Chesaning Tennis Club. Players should wear light-colored clothing and bring a water bottle and sun protection and/or a hat.

CAN 12TH ANNUAL GOLF SCRAMBLE — The Saginaw Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Council of Saginaw is hosting its 12th annual Golf Outing on Friday, June 18, at Swan Valley Golf Club. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The $100 fee covers 18 holes with a cart, lunch at the turn, steak dinner and goody bags. There will also be door prizes, skills contests and an auction. Reservations to attend the dinner and auction, without golfing, are $20 per person. Reservations can be made for individuals or teams of four golfers. Limited sponsorships are still available. SHIELDS FESTIVAL SOFTBALL TOURNEY — Thomas Township Parks and Recreation is taking registration for the 23rd annual Shields Homecoming Festival Men’s Softball Tournament. The men’s slow pitch softball 25 team double elimination tournament will be played on June 18-20. Wining teams receive a trophy and t-shirts. The $180 entry fee includes softballs. SPORTS PHYSICALS JUNE 18 — Dr. Doug Forsyth and Dr. Navdeep Singh will be giving sports physicals on Friday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their office, St. Mary’s of Michigan Chesaning Health Center, 1600 W. Brady Road (next to Burger King). The physicals will cost $10 per athlete and the physical forms can be obtained at the high school athletic office so that they may be completed prior to the physical (preferred) or will be available at the St. Mary’s office. CHESANING FOOTBALL INDIAN OPEN — The 15th annual Chesaning Football Indian Open four-person golf scramble will be held on June 19 at Twin Brooks Golf Course in Chesaning. Tee time is 9 a.m., but golfers are asked to arrive by 8:15 a.m. to register, get hole assignments and sign up for specials that will be available. The cost is $65 per person which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and beverages. There will be a prize for first place with additional prizes available, including hole prizes. In the past, funds raised from the golf outing have been used for special pads, technology equipment such as VCRs, an end zone camera, digital cameras, computers and software for analyzing game tapes and a new watering system. MONTROSE VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE – Montrose Hill-McCloy High School is organizing a volleyball league which will play on Tuesday nights beginning June 15 at 6 p.m. The cost is $20 per team with t-shirts for the champions. GOLF SCRAMBLE ADDED TO BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL LINE-UP – The Montrose Blueberry Festival Committee and the Montrose Firefighters, Inc. are working together to present a golf scramble on Saturday, Aug. 7 at Briar Ridge Golf Course in Montrose. Registration will be at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Dinner and prizes will be immediately following, featuring a catered New York strip steak dinner. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing, coney dogs and chips at the turn, separate long drive and closest to the pin contests for men and women, Vegas hole, and putting contests with proceeds to benefit the Montrose Open Cupboard Food Pantry. The registration fee is $260 (four-person, pre-registered), with $100 due by July 31.. Registration the day of the event will be $70 per person, $280 per team. Sponsors are also being sought for the event, including rafffle/door prize gift sponsors, cart sponsors, hole sponsors, coney dog sponsors, steak dinner sponsors and corporate sponsors.
