Beginners beekeeper workshop set for March 6

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP New beekeepers can get their start at a hands-on workshop on Saturday, March 6.

The workshop, sponsored by the Saginaw County Conservation Districts, will demonstrate how to assemble beekeeping equipment and how to wire the frames as well as review foundation options. Participants can bring their own starter kit or order one at the workshop. Kits range from a ten frame package for $50 or a 40 frame package for $100.

Instructor Dan Keane, a beekeeper and retired inspector, will also offer tips, tricks and techniques.

The workshop will be held at the Richland Township Hall, one block south of Gratiot road on Elm street, from noon to 4 p.m Saturday, March 6.

The $20 workshop fee must be submitted by February 25.
