Government Meetings

CHESANING VILLAGE COUNCIL will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the council chambers at the village office, 1100 W. Broad Street. • BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the township hall, 16020 W. Peet Road, Oakley. • CHESANING TOWNSHIP BOARD will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Township Hall, 1025 W. Brady Rd.

Clubs/Civic Groups

NEW LOTHROP LIONS CLUB will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the New Lothrop Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. • MONTROSE MASONIC LODGE #428 will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Lodge, 130 Parkway St. • The TRI-CITY WOOD CARVERS will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Saginaw Township Fire Station Number Three on Shattuck Road. Carving topics are discussed of interest to carvers of all skill levels. • The Shiawassee County Chapter 63 of the Disabled American Veterans and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary will join with the Purple Heart for a MEETING AND CHRISTMAS DINNER on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. Each of the organizations will have a brief meeting followed by the dinner at the Council on Aging building, 300 N. Washington Street, Owosso. Any members of any of the three organizations who have not notified anyone of their attendance at the meeting and dinner are asked to call Les Schneider at (989) 429-4310 or Dave Maltzan at (989) 743-5043.

Odds & Ends

• The Good Shepherd Youth Group will sponsor a BREAKFAST WITH SANTA from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 400 N. Saginaw St., Montrose. The event is donation-based and everyone is welcome. Proceeds will be sued to purchase Christmas gifts for needy families in Montrose. Pictures and visits with Santa will be available. Fundraisers

• Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish School is holding a RAFFLE for a $1,000.00 shopping spree to either Great Lakes Crossing or Cabela's. Tickets are $5 each, with the drawing on Thursday, Dec. 10. Tickets are available in the school office, 802 Lockwood St, or after 10:30 A.M. Mass at Our Lady Church. Please call Kris Pullman at 845-6338 for more information to purchase/and or sell tickets. The proceeds will go to Our Lady School. • The ST. CHARLES HISTORICAL MUSEUM is offering the last few copies of the historical publication, "St. Charles, Michigan, The Early Years- 1848 thru 1970, A Scrapbook History", written by local author Dale Greve. Copies can be obtained from The St. Charles Hartley Memorial Library, St. Charles Village Office, Bare's Sporting Goods, Dave's Barber Shop,and Rodger's Dollar Store , or by calling 865-6833. The books are priced at $16.00 at the counter or $20.00 by mail order. All proceeds are donated back to the St. Charles Museum.

Churches

• The Market Street Square Church of the Nazarene 625 W. Broad St. Chesaning will be holding REVIVAL SERVICES with Rev. Ben and Amanda Pettit Nov. 29 – Dec. 2. Sunday Services will be 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday-Wednesday services at 7 p.m. Rev. Ben and Amanda Pettit are from Vicksburg, and have done several church meetings, youth camps and camp meetings around the nation. For more information, please call (989) 845-1488.

• St. Charles United Methodist Church will be offering a free

MEATLOAF DINNER on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 301 W. Belle Ave., St. Charles.

Schools

NEW LOTHROP AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF EDUCATION will hold a Negotiations Committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, in the Administrative Office, 9285 Easton Rd., New Lothrop.

Bazaars/Craft Shows

• The Oakley Community Church Women’s Group will be having a BAZAAR on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church. There will be over 100 tables of unique items, along with baked goods, candies and raffles. Lunch will be available. No strollers, please. • The Birch Run United Methodist Women will hold their annual

CHRISTMAS COOKIE WALK on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon in the fellowship hall. The women bake many varieties of cookies priced at $6 per pound. Cartons are available to fill. Speciality items are priced by the plate. Sugar free items are available. Proceeds provide funds for several mission projects throughout the year. The Birch Run United Methodist Church is located at 12265 Church St., across from North Elementary School. • The Breckenridge FFA is holding its 18th annual FARM TOY SHOW on Saturday, Dec. 5 in the Breckenridge High School gymnasium. Show time will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $2 per person, with children under age 10 admitted free. The funds generated from this toy show support the leadership programs that train FFA members how to learn, lead and succeed in today’s work force. • Poorman’s Promotions will be conducting a CRAFT SHOW on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Circus Park Hall, 4240 W. Seniors

• The ALBEE SENIOR CHRISTMAS PARTY will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the Albee Community Center on M-13. The doors will open at 11 a.m. with dinner at noon. There will also be prizes and drawings, and they will be collecting food and donations for the needy. • The MARION TOWNSHIP SENIOR CITIZENS meet the first Monday of each month for a potluck dinner at the Marion Township Hall.
