Fatal ATV crash under investigation

NEW HAVEN TWP. – The Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single ATV accident which occurred near the intersection of Juddville and State Roads in New Haven Township. The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Deputies said preliminary investigation indicates Kevin James Wiley, 35, of Owosso, was driving a 2009 Yamaha quad runner eastbound through a field near the intersection of State and Juddville Roads when it crashed into a large field drainage ditch and he was thrown from the ATV.

Wiley was transported to Memorial Healthcare in Owosso by Corunna Area Ambulance, where he died as a result of his injuries. Wiley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, deputies said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Shiawassee County Accident Reconstruction Team.
