Saginaw St. in St. Charles. • CHESANING TASK FORCE will meet between 7 and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce office. • The CHESANING AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 9 at the Peet Community Center in downtown Chesaning. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with speaker Vern Mesler, an expert on old metal truss bridges. Jim Shooltz will also be speaking about the history of the dam. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to this exciting presentation. • The public is invited to the MONTROSE HISTORICAL MUSUEM on Monday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be John F. West, of Lennon, an avid collector of Michigan license plates. He will bring plates with him and encourages the public to do the same. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Riverside Grill. They are looking for junior and senior parents. Any questions, call 845- 7531. • GLEANER’S TRI COUNTY ARBOR conducted its first meeting of the 2009-10 year by presenting its beneficiary Junction of Hope with a check for $500. They have invited Senator John Gleason to be a guest speaker for the next meeting. They also have planned tours of the Montrose Depot and Montrose Telephone Museum. The next meeting is on Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Depot. The public is welcome to attend.

Odds & Ends

EUCHRE AND SETBACK PLAYERS ARE NEEDED. Our Lady Adult Social Club invites players to come and enjoy a fun night of card playing on Saturday, Nov. 14, Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 13 and April 10 at Our Lady Parish Hall, 803 Church St., Chesaning. Doors are open at 6 p.m., play starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. or after. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Players should bring their own snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. Fundraisers

• Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish School is holding a RAFFLE for a $1,000.00 shopping spree to either Great Lakes Crossing or Cabela's. Tickets are $5 each, with the drawing on Thursday, Dec. 10. Tickets are available in the school office, 802 Lockwood St, or after 10:30 A.M. Mass at Our Lady Church. Please call Kris Pullman at 845-6338 for more information to purchase/and or sell tickets. The proceeds will go to Our Lady School.

• TURKEY BINGO will be played Sunday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at Our Lady Parish Hall, 803 Church St., Chesaning. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Players must be 18 years or older. There will be 20 games with turkey prizes for $2 per card, collected at the beginning. There will also be two cover-all bingos for money prizes for 50 cents per card, or three cards for a dollar. Snacks and beverages will be provided by the Our Lady Youth Group. The event is sponsored by the Christian Service Commission, with proceeds going to the church general fund.

• The GOSPELMEN will be performing on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Montrose Baptist Church. From the latest in southern gospel to the hymns of the church, the Gospelmen do it all. Brady Road (Corner of M-57 and South Hemlock Road), announces a special "DEER HUNTERS' SERVICE" scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at 7 p.m. The service is designed to allow hunters to worship the Lord and still be in the woods on opening day, which lands on a Sunday this year. Food and Fellowship

• There will be a SOUP AND PIE SUPPER featuring all-youcan eat homemade soup on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, 7495 Orchard St. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children. • The Montrose Eagles Club #4090 will be serving a COUNTRY

BREAKFAST BUFFET on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. The menu includes sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash browns, home fries, sausage patties and links, bacon, corned beef hash, eggs and omelets made to order, fresh made pancakes, French toast, strawberry shortcake, fruit, milk, juice, coffee and tea. The cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 6-12, and free for children ages 5 and under. • There will be a CHICKEN DINNER on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Henderson United Methodist Church. Take-outs and serving from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes baked chicken, baked for mashed potatoes, corn, cole slaw, biscuits and gravy, pie or cake. The price is $7 for adults, $3.50 children ages 12 and under, and free for preschoolers. • There will be a SPAGHETTI AND LASAGNA DINNER on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Community of Christ, 1767 E. Burt Road, Burt. The cost is by donation.

Health & Safety

Cindy Helmker, certified Tai Chi instructor and physical therapy assistant with Memorial Healthcare, will offer two levels of

TAI CHI courses beginning Monday, Nov. 16. A beginner session will be offered on Mondays at 9 a.m. and two sessions of advanced classes will be offered on Mondays, one at 10 a.m. and a second at 6:15 p.m. Each session will run on consecutive Mondays for six weeks. This low impact exercise program teaches the Chinese ancient art of movement in which individuals feel more balanced with life, both physically and mentally. Classes will be held at Memorial’s Outpatient Services Building located on Memorial’s North Campus, 1480 N. M-52 in Owosso. The cost for each session is $35 and class space is limited. Luna Alkhafaji, M.D., OB/GYN, will present information on “MENOPAUSE AND HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY” on Monday, Nov. 9 at noon. This free presentation will be held at Stoney Creek Village located at 1694 N. M-52, Owosso. Menopause is a normal condition that all women experience as they age. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is used to supplement the body with either estrogen alone or estrogen and progesterone in combination during and after menopause. Estrogen and progesterone are hormones that are produced by a woman's ovaries. When the ovaries no longer produce adequate amounts of these hormones (as in menopause), HRT can be given to supplement the body with adequate levels of estrogen and progesterone. This presentation is offered as part of Memorial’s popular “Art of Aging” lecture series which is regularly scheduled to meet on the second Monday of the month.
