MOMS partner with STC band to honor veterans Nov. 11

By Hillary Grigonis Staff Reporter

ST. CHARLES – An annual tradition for the St. Charles High School band is looking to grow this year as the group has partnered with Moms of Military (MOM) for the Nov. 11 Veteran’s Day Concert.

Sheri Simerson, MOM chairperson, says the group hopes to bring more veterans to the concert, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the St. Charles cafetorium.

The partnership allows for several new aspects to be added to the concert, including a bagpipe player, refreshments and a casual meet-and-greet opportunity with veterans.

“We just really want to let them know how much we appreciate them,” Simerson said.

The groups are inviting anyone who has served in the military to attend and represent their branch by their attire (uniform, hat, tshirt, etc.). The community is also welcome to come show their support.

Simerson began the MOM organization in 2006 as a support group for mothers with children serving in the military. The group also focuses on coping through reaching out to local veterans and current military personnel.
