Frankenmuth Auto Fest | The Tri County Citizen tricountycitizen FRANKENMUTH, MICHIGAN – Frankenmuth’s 33rd Annual Auto Fest packs classic cars, music, food and family entertainment into three fun-filled days, this coming Friday through Sunday, September 9, 10, and 11. Friday kicks off with the Big Block Party on Main Street. When Main Street (M83) closes to traffic about 4:30 p.m., more than 1,500 classic cars and street rods will park curbside between Jefferson and Genesee Streets. The event is free to visitors and classic cars. Cars must be 1978 or older to participate. The Frankenmuth Auto Fest Car Show is held riverside in Frankenmuth’s beautiful Heritage Park all three days of the show: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The main gates open at 8 a.m. Daily spectator admission to Heritage Park is $5 at the gate and weekend (3-day) passes are available at the gate for $10 for adults. Children under 12 are free. In addition to thousands of cars to see, Auto Fest is all about family fun. Visits from Ronald McDonald, Magic Shows, an all-day Bounce Haus, and a petting zoo from Wilderness Park give the whole family something to do! Festival foods are available throughout the park. Don’t forget Saturday night when Auto Fest hosts the Party in the Pavilion. Located at the large blue and white building in Heritage Park, the event features two great bands and one huge dance floor. A cash bar is available. Saturday night is all about dancing! Bringing their eight-piece horn group from Detroit is the “Sound Alternative,” playing Motown, R&B and Funk. Live from Pensacola and the Florida Gulf Coast is “MoJiles, a powerful performance band bringing you an energetic mix of Top 40 Country, 80’s Rock, 70’s Classics and Top 40 Dance. Tickets for the Party are $15 at the door, which opens at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the events keep rolling in Heritage Park. Kicking off with a non-denominational Church Service, the day features more classics cars and a special Veterans Tribute. In its 33rd year, Auto Fest has donated more than $1.8 million to area non-profits and charities including the Covenant Hospital McNally House. A fully volunteer event, Auto Fest is hosted by Frankenmuth’s Country Street Machines.
